Three billboards outside Ebbing Missouri, or the black laugh !

#Movie Review

Recently I got a chance to watch three billboards outside Ebbing Missouri, I been hearing about the film for a long time now. It is directed by Martin McDonagh, and stars Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell, it shows a remote town somewhere in America. Now let me be clear I am by no means an expert on the rural life in America, I am an Indian, and I have a basic knowledge on rural life though (no shit!). And the movie felt real.

The movie talks about a mother of a girl who got raped and burned to death in a remote village somewhere in Missouri, we don’t get to see the girl a lot, the story revolves around the mother Mildred Hayes, and the police officers who participated the investigation of the murder of Mildred’s daughter. After a year of investigation there were no arrests. Divested, Mildred decides to put up 3 billboards blaming the police especially the police chief Bill who played by Woody Harrelson. Thus the story begins.

The movie walks as through the reactions of the town on these billboards and the events following that, the performance by the main cast is exceptional. Frances nails as the mother and a badass person. She doesn’t care what the town thinks about her she want justice for her girl. And that point is well established throughout the movie. It shows as what we want to see about the characters, I think Woody Harrelson did a fantastic job playing the police chief. And events in the story is positioned so that we never take our eyes off the scene, it was extremely entertaining, and there where quite a lot of laugh moments In the movie which I enjoyed a lot, every department of the movie feels well-polished. The editing was good and provide us with enough grip on the movie. The cinematography by Ben Davis was good, I enjoyed some of the colour tricks he pulled of the camera, and the direction was so gripping that this move suddenly became my favorite movie in 2017. The climax of the movie can may be an issue to some. But that portion is pretty much what you take out of the movie, and I think it was a good one. If you haven’t watched this one, I highly encourage you to please go watch this one.
